2.20 Displaying images and movies in the viewport background

Products: ABAQUS/CAE  ABAQUS/Viewer

Benefits: You can now display an image or movie in the background of a viewport. Background images can help you position part instances more effectively when you create an assembly, while background movies can help you compare animations of ABAQUS analyses with movies of experimental results.

Description: Background images and movies enable you to customize the viewports in your session and can help with modeling and analysis tasks. Both images and movies are viewport-specific options, so you can display a different image or movie in each viewport in your session. Background images persist in a viewport as you change modules, while background movies appear in the Visualization module only. In Figure 2–8 the background image is a photograph of a bicycle, and a contour plot of a bicycle is displayed in front of it.

In the Sketch module you can display an alternate background image that can help you create parts and features more effectively. The Sketcher background image is displayed in the Sketch module only; when active, it appears on top of the module-wide background image.

ABAQUS/CAE also enables you to customize the display of images and movies in the viewport background. You can reposition the image or movie, stretch or compress it along in either direction, and adjust its translucency.
