2.11 Analytical fields in ABAQUS/CAE

Product: ABAQUS/CAE

Benefits: You can specify analytical fields for selected interactions and prescribed conditions to define spatially varying parameters. The Analytical Field toolset allows you to create and manage analytical fields.

Description: Analytical fields define analytical functions. When you define a surface film condition or a concentrated film condition, you can specify an analytical field to define a spatially varying film coefficient. When you define a pressure load, shell edge load, surface traction load, or a predefined temperature field, you can specify an analytical field to define spatially varying loads and temperatures. You can use the Analytical Field toolset to create and manage analytical fields. The Analytical Field toolset is available in the Interaction module and the Load module.

Analytical fields defined using expressions are referred to as expression fields. Currently, expression fields are the only type of analytical fields available in ABAQUS/CAE. You create an expression field by building a mathematical expression in the expression field editor, as shown in Figure 2–4.
