4.3 Creating patterns of instances

Benefits: You can easily create complex assemblies by creating new instances in a linear or radial pattern.

Description: You can create a pattern of new instances. You can choose either of the following methods to define the pattern:

Linear

A linear pattern positions new instances along a direction; for example, the -direction. You can specify the number of instances and the spacing between the instances, and you can choose to position the instances in a positive direction or a negative direction. In addition, you can change the angle of the direction. You can create a matrix of new instances by creating copies in a second direction; for example, the -direction, as shown in Figure 4–3.

Radial

A radial pattern positions new instances in a circular pattern. You can specify the number of instances, and you can specify the angle between the first and last instance, as shown in Figure 4–4.

In addition, you can select a line from the assembly that defines a new axis of rotation.
