2.10 Memory reductions for ABAQUS/Explicit analyses

Product: ABAQUS/Explicit

Benefits: Memory requirements for ABAQUS/Explicit analyses that use domain-level parallelization have been greatly reduced.

Description: In previous versions of ABAQUS/Explicit the memory usage per domain for analyses conducted with domain-level parallelization was relatively insensitive to the number of domains used: gradual reductions in memory usage per domain would occur as the number of domains increased. In Version 6.5 the memory used in scalar (single-domain) analyses has been reduced somewhat in comparison to Version 6.4, and significant reductions in memory usage per domain can be observed as the number of domains is increased. These reductions in memory usage result in a significantly lower memory requirement for ABAQUS/Explicit analyses that use domain-level parallelization. These trends are shown in Table 2–1, which compares memory usage across versions and in scalar versus parallel analyses for a particular (large) model.
