ABSTRACT
This is a tutorial on fundamental concepts of multimedia. Basics of video formats will be presented. Considerations in designing or selecting compression algorithms will be reviewed. Popular compression methods including JPEG, Motion-JPEG, MPEG, MPEG-2 will be explained along with the H.261 video conferencing standard.
