ABSTRACT
The field of networking is in the midst of the exponentially growing region of the technology curve. During this period of technology development, industry takes a leading role in making the technology usable for the masses. Recent explosive growth of the Internet and US Government's plans for a National Information Infrastructure are clear indications of this phase of the networking technology.

This first seminar begins with an explanation of the technology curve and its impact on the future of networking. We then move on to the issues in the design of high speed computer networks.
