Network Virtualization and Application Delivery Using Software Defined Networking

Keynote at Huawei Strategy and Technology Workshop, Shenzhen, China, May 15, 2013.

Abstract: Network virtualization is the key for the current and future success of cloud computing. Five key reasons for virtualization will be discussed along with several of the networking technologies that have been recently developed or are being developed. In particular, five key innovations of Software Defined Networking (SDN) which is the key to network programmability will be presented. We also illustrate SDN's applicability with our own research on OpenADN - application delivery in a multi-cloud environment.
