"Out-of-Rate RM Cell Issues and Effect of Trm, TOF, and TCR," ATM Forum/95-973R1, August 1995

In this contribution, we examine the transient response time in going from a very low rate to a high rate. The frequency of feedback is low for low rate sources and this affects transients. Parameter Trm can improve the frequency of feedback. The rise is also controlled by the Tof parameter which may trigger an unnecessary decrease. We also observe that out-of-rate cells are not optional for NICs because of the ACR=0 case. We propose corrections to the End System pseudo code to correct these and other discrepancies. Note: Most of these corrections have been adopted in revision 8 of the TM 4.0 spec.
