"A Fix for Source End System Rule 5," ATM Forum/95-1660, December 1995

In the October 1,995 meeting of the ATM Forum, it was found that source end system rule 5 does not handle ACR retention problem correctly. It causes undesirable oscillations in many cases and significantly reduces the performance of the bursty sources. In this contribution, we analyze the solution that was proposed in October 1,995 meeting and finally present a better solution. While the case of small bursts needs to be tackled, the rule works well for other simple configurations.
