A new class web server has been created for the School of Engineering and Applied Science. This new server will provide a common location for all of the school’s class web page. A new directory will be created for each semester. After the semester ends, the permissions on the files will be changed to prevent public access. This will provide an archive of previous semester’s web sites, but protect previous published class material.
It is a Linux apache server. It will not support FrontPage extensions. If your web page requires FrontPage extensions, please let the Engineering IT support staff know about your needs and a location for your classes will be created on a Windows web server.
When you are ready to publish your web page please inform EIT staff of the name of the class. A directory for the class will be created. A symbolic link to the class will be made, creating a simpler URL for the class. You will be the owner of the directory and a class group will be created. This class group can be used to give other people to maintain your class web site.
The physical location of the Spring 2013 directories will be:
\\fs2.seas.wustl.edu\class-www\engineering\Classname
You can get to this site by entering the string in the address bar of Windows Explorer.
The URL for the class page will be http://classes.engineering.wustl.edu/classname
Another location for web site using Linux: /fs2/system/class-www/engineering
