The goal of our project is to create an app that can perform optical character recognition on nutritional labels and extract the basic information about that food (calories as well as content of fat, carbohydrate, sugar, protein, and fiber). After a food is photographed and selected for consumption, the app will add the associated information to the daily running totals for each of these nutritional measures. In addition, the app will give warnings when the user's total for a particular measure (grams of consumed fat for instance) approaches the suggested daily total for a healthy diet.

The goal of our project is to create a wireless charging stand for an iPad or tablet. Ideally, the user will be able to place the iPad or tablet on the stand, and it will be balanced in an angled position as it charges, so the user can watch videos or surf the web as normal while charging their device. The charging stand will also be portable, so it could be used in situations where finding an outlet is difficult (such as in class). If time permits, we'd also like to create an app or small display that provides some telemetry on the charging process (perhaps how fast it's charging and an estimated complete time).
