14.12 Output and restart at specified number interval, time intervals, or time points

Products: ABAQUS/Standard  ABAQUS/Explicit  ABAQUS/CAE

Benefits: For ABAQUS/Standard procedures you can request field output in evenly spaced time intervals, and you can request history output in evenly spaced time intervals or each time a certain amount of time elapses. These two frequency selection options were available only for ABAQUS/Explicit in previous releases. In addition, for both ABAQUS/Standard and ABAQUS/Explicit you can now request field or history output at arbitrary, user-defined time points.

Description: In ABAQUS/Standard you can now specify the frequency of output to the results (.fil) file in terms of the number of intervals and the frequency of output to the output database (.odb) file in terms of the number of intervals and at regular time intervals. These frequency options had previously been available only for ABAQUS/Explicit procedures. You can also control whether the output should be written at the exact specified times or at the increments immediately after the specified times. In ABAQUS/Standard if the output frequency is requested at exact times, in general ABAQUS will adjust the time increments to write output at these times, which may increase the number of increments required to complete the analysis.

In both ABAQUS/Standard and ABAQUS/Explicit you can create a set of arbitrary time points and then request field or history output for every time point in the set. This option enables you to create a customized output frequency so that you can request more frequent output during a critical period in your analysis.

In addition, for supported procedures in ABAQUS/Standard you can specify the output frequency to the restart file in terms of the number of intervals and the output frequency to the output database in terms of the number of intervals, regular time intervals, or arbitrary time points. For the complete list of supported procedures for these options, see Restarting an analysis, Section 9.1.1 of the ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual, and Output to the output database, Section 4.1.3 of the ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual, respectively.
