11.5 Parallelization of edge-to-edge contact in ABAQUS/Explicit

Product: ABAQUS/Explicit

Benefits: Edge-to-edge contact can now be used in a multi-domain analysis in ABAQUS/Explicit.

Description: By default, when a surface in a multi-domain analysis is used in a general contact interaction, all perimeter edges and beam and truss segments and all applicable facets and nodes are included in the contact definition. This behavior is different from Version 6.5; previously, when a surface in a multi-domain analysis was used in a general contact interaction, all perimeter edges and beam and truss segments were excluded automatically from the contact definition. This difference in behavior can cause differences in the results between Version 6.5 and Version 6.6. While all perimeter edges and beam and truss segments are now included by default, you can control which feature edges are considered for edge-to-edge contact.

Geometric feature edges and perimeter edges do not have to be included explicitly in a surface definition (by using edge identifiers) for them to be considered for edge-to-edge contact.
