2.6.2 Browsing and searching the online manuals

You can browse and search the entire online manual collection by selecting HelpSearch & Browse Manuals. The collection window that appears contains a list of all the book titles in the online documentation collection. To view a particular manual, simply click the title of interest; the manual will appear in a new browser window. (For detailed information, see the online manual Using ABAQUS Online Documentation.)

To display and search an online manual:

  1. From the main menu bar, select HelpSearch & Browse Manuals.

    The collection window appears in your web browser with a list of all the book titles in the online documentation collection, grouped by category.

  2. Click the book title of interest.

    A book window containing the manual that you selected opens in a new browser window. The book window contains four frames: the navigation frame (top frame), the expand/collapse frame (upper left frame), the table of contents frame (lower left frame), and the text frame (right frame), as shown in Figure 2–3.

  3. Navigate through the manual's contents using any of the following techniques:

    Expand/Collapse

    Use the buttons in the expand/collapse frame to vary the level of detail displayed in the table of contents frame. Click Expand to expand several levels in the table of contents of an online book. Click Collapse to collapse all expanded sections in the table of contents.

    Browsing

    Use the and arrows in the text frame to navigate sequentially through the text. You can also use the web browser functions to return to recently viewed pages.

    Searching

    Use the search panel located in the navigation frame to search for specific words or phrases. For more information, see Chapter 2, Searching the HTML documentation,” of Using ABAQUS Online Documentation.

    Using hyperlinks

    Use hyperlinks to move from one part of a book to another or from one book to another book.
