Product: ABAQUS/CAE
Benefits: Diagnostic information generated by an ABAQUS analysis can be conveniently accessed from within the ABAQUS/CAE environment. The warnings and errors that are most commonly generated by ABAQUS/Standard jobs—including summary information, cutback information, and element diagnostics—can now be accessed in the Visualization module.
Description: The summary for each analysis now includes the number of warnings and errors in the analysis, and the information describing the automatic time incrementation scheme used by ABAQUS/Standard has been expanded and reorganized. Tabbed pages help you locate where any problems occurred, filter warnings and errors by category, and provide a brief description of each type of diagnostic information. By selecting a stage of the analysis from the Job History tree, you can also limit the display of diagnostic information to a specific step, increment, attempt, or iteration. In addition, you can highlight in the viewport the nodes or elements associated with warnings and errors. Figure 157 shows the Errors tabbed page in the Job Diagnostics dialog box.
If ABAQUS made a cutback in an analysis attempt, the summary for that attempt now includes a reason for the cutback—for example, a severe overclosure or a diverging solution. Element diagnostics include distorting elements, excessive strain increments, and failed constitutive calculations. Interpreting the reason for cutbacks and element diagnostics is an essential step in resolving convergence problems in an analysis.
Note: Although Job Diagnostics were available in ABAQUS Version 6.4, the enhancements in the current version do not allow you to view diagnostics for an upgraded output database. To view diagnostic information, you must run the analysis using ABAQUS Version 6.5.
