Product: ABAQUS/CAE
Benefits: The reorganization of the shell and beam section editors improves usability. In addition, transverse shear stiffness properties for shell and beam sections can now be defined in ABAQUS/CAE, increasing the coverage of ABAQUS analysis product functionality.
Description: In the homogeneous and composite shell section editors for general shell sections (i.e., integrated before analysis) the Options button for Integration has been removed. The editors have been reorganized so that the integration options are now located on the Basic tabbed page; in addition, the temperature variation options are now located on the Advanced tabbed page. In the homogeneous and composite shell section editors for both general shell sections and shell sections integrated during analysis, the section Poisson's ratio options are now located on the Advanced tabbed page. Figure 73 shows an example of the new shell section editors.
In the beam section editor for a general beam section (i.e., integrated before analysis) the Options buttons for Output Pts, Damping, and Offset have been removed. The editor has been reorganized so that the damping and offset options are now located on the Advanced tabbed page, and the output points options are now located on the Output Points tabbed page. The Linear properties button has been removed; you now enter the beam section properties in a data table on the Basic tabbed page. Figure 74 shows the new general beam section editor.
When you select the profile shape for a beam section, you can either select an existing profile or click Create to define a new profile. In addition, transverse shear stiffness properties for shell and beam sections can now be specified on the Advanced tabbed page of each section editor (or on the main page of the editor for beam sections integrated during analysis).
