Benefits: Selecting the sides of a surface of a shell part has been simplified by replacing the colored arrowheads that indicated the sides with colored faces.
Description: If you were selecting the side of a surface in previous versions of ABAQUS/CAE, ABAQUS/CAE displayed colored arrowheads and you chose the color corresponding to the desired side. These arrowheads remain when you are selecting a side from a wire or an axisymmetric part. However, when you are selecting a side from a shell, ABAQUS/CAE now displays the two sides using different colors; you simply choose the color corresponding to the desired side. Figure 4–6 illustrates how much easier it is to distinguish sides based on colored faces compared to colored arrows.
