52.2.4 Plotting display groups

You can plot a display group for the model in the current viewport. In the Visualization module you can plot more than one display group in the same viewport. ABAQUS/CAE plots only the components in each display group that are valid for the current model. For example, if a display group references an element set called Fixture, the model in the current viewport should also contain an element set called Fixture. ABAQUS/CAE ignores model components that are not valid.

To plot a single display group in any module:

  1. From the main menu bar, select ToolsDisplay GroupPlot.

  2. From the menu that appears, select the display group that you want to plot.

Tip:  You can also use the display group manager for the current module to plot a display group. From the main menu bar, select ToolsDisplay GroupManager. Select the display group you want to plot, and click Plot from the buttons on the right side of the manager.

The model plot in the current viewport changes to show only the selected display group.

To plot one or more display groups in the Visualization module:

  1. From the main menu bar, select ToolsDisplay GroupManager.

The ODB Display Group Manager appears with a list at the top of all display groups saved in the current session.

  2. Select one or more display groups from the list (see Selecting multiple items from lists and tables, Section 3.2.11, for more information), and click Plot from the buttons on the right side of the manager.

The model plot in the current viewport changes to show only the selected display groups, and the plotted display groups appear in the list of display group instances at the bottom of the ODB Display Group Manager.

  3. To add one or more display groups to the plot in the current viewport, select them from the list of saved display groups at the top of the ODB Display Group Manager, and click Add from the buttons on the right side of the manager.

The selected display groups are added to the model plot in the current viewport and to the list of display group instances at the bottom of the ODB Display Group Manager.

  4. To remove a display group from the plot in the current viewport, select the instance from the list at the bottom of the ODB Display Group Manager, and click Remove from the buttons at the bottom of the manager.

The selected display group is removed from the model plot in the current viewport and from the list of display group instances.

  5. You can customize plot state–dependent and independent options separately for each display group in the current viewport. For more information, see Customizing display groups in the Visualization module, Section 52.2.5.
