You can specify locking criteria for any component of relative motion. The locking criteria may depend on the motions of the available components of relative motion and on the forces/moments in both available and constrained components of relative motion. The locking occurs when any one of the criteria are met, as opposed to when all of the criteria are met. For more information, see Connector stops and locks, Section 25.2.8 of the ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual.
To create or edit a lock:
Display the connector section editor using one of the following methods:
To create a new connector section, follow the procedure outlined in Creating connector sections, Section 15.11.6.
To edit an existing connector section, select ConnectorSectionManager from the main menu bar, select the connector section from the list that appears, and click Edit.
In the Edit Connector Section dialog box, do one of the following:
To define a new lock option, click Add and select Lock from the option menu that appears.
To edit an existing lock option, select the option from the Behavior Options list to display the associated data fields for that option.
In the Components field, toggle on the components of relative motion to be used to define locking criteria. If you want to specify different limits for different components, you must define multiple lock options.
Click the arrow to the right of the Lock field, and select an option from the list that appears:
Select All to lock all components of relative motion when any of the locking criteria are satisfied.
Select Specify to choose the available component of relative motion to lock when any of the locking criteria are satisfied.
To define locking criteria based on motion, in the Position Locking Criteria portion of the editor, enter the limits for the relative positions of the available components of relative motion that will trigger the lock.
To define locking criteria based on forces/moments, in the Force/Moment Locking Criteria portion of the editor, enter the limits for the forces/moments of the available or constrained components of relative motion that will trigger the lock.
Select one of the following:
If you want to continue defining behavior options, click Add, select the desired behavior option, and continue the connector section definition. For instructions on defining other behavior options, see Using the connector section editors, Section 15.15.
If you want to view or edit an existing behavior option, select the option from the Behavior Options list. For instructions on editing behavior options, see Using the connector section editors, Section 15.15.
If you want to save your connector section definition and exit the editor, click OK.
