The viewport background image that you select is displayed in the current viewport only, and it remains visible in that viewport as you change modules. Because background images are viewport-specific, you can display different images in each viewport that either help you with different tasks or enable you to distinguish viewports more quickly.
While the module-wide background image appears in all modules, its appearance may be obscured by the Sketcher background image (in the Sketch module) or the background movie (in the Visualization module). When active, each of these viewport decorations are displayed on top of the module-wide background image in the selected module. You can also include the background image in a printout of a viewport; see Selecting which part of the image to print, Section 8.2.2, for more information.
To display a background image or movie in the viewport:
From the main menu bar, select ViewImage/Movie Options.
The Image/Movie Options dialog box opens with the Image page selected.
Toggle Show image to display or hide the background image in the viewport.
Select an image file to display:
To display an image that has been defined for your session, expand the Image name list and select the image name.
To add a new image, click Create; then enter a name and specify a file location in the dialog box that appears. You can either enter the file location directly in the File Name field or click Select to navigate to it in the Select Image File dialog box.
Click OK to apply your changes and to close the Image/Movie Options dialog box.
If desired, you can also customize the scale, positioning, or translucency of the background image; see Customizing the appearance of background images and movies, Section 4.6.4.
