5.1 Viewing the ABAQUS PDF documentation

The ABAQUS documentation is available in portable document format (PDF) on CD-ROM as an optional supplement to the installable online documentation in HTML format. You must use a PDF viewer, such as Adobe Reader, to view the PDF documentation files.

The following PDF viewers are recommended for viewing the ABAQUS PDF documentation:

  • Adobe Reader 5.0 on Linux platforms

  • Adobe Reader 6.0 on Windows platforms (supports collection-level searching)

Note:  To view current information on platform support for PDF viewers, go to the ABAQUS Home Page and select Support & ServicesTechnical SupportSystems Information.

The ability to view PDF documents on a particular platform depends on the availability of PDF viewer software on that platform. Search capabilities in PDF viewers vary from platform to platform and with the viewer software version.

To view the ABAQUS PDF documentation:

  1. Insert the CD-ROM into the drive.

    • On Windows platforms for which the autorun function is enabled, the PDF collection page opens automatically.

    • On Windows platforms for which the autorun function is disabled or on Linux platforms, manually open index.pdf in your PDF viewer.

  2. Click a title to open an individual book, or use the search function to search the PDF documentation collection.

You can click the icon in the upper right corner of the collection window to open README.pdf. The file contains information about the documentation version and basic instructions for using the ABAQUS PDF documentation.
