15.6 Integrated output over a surface

Products: ABAQUS/Explicit  ABAQUS/CAE

Benefits: You can request history output of the total force and moment transmitted across a surface. You can also monitor the average translation and rotation of a surface using integrated output sections.

Description: You can obtain the time history of force and moment transmitted across a surface with the results computed in a coordinate system that is fixed or rotates and translates with deformation. You must define an integrated output section definition and associate it with an integrated output request when the output in a moving coordinate system is required. Variables for total force (SOF), total moment (SOM), and total area of the surface (SOAREA) are available.

See Defining interior cross-section surfaces, Section 4.13, for information on creating cross-section-like “interior” surfaces for which integrated output can be requested to study the force-flow in a model with a free-body-diagram-type simplification. Integrated output can also be requested for “exterior” surfaces to monitor the force and moment transmitted across a contact or tie constraint.

An integrated output section definition can be used with an integrated output request as described above. It can also be used to monitor the average motion of a surface by including a reference node in the integrated output section definition.
