6.6 Reading temperatures from a previous analysis

Products: ABAQUS/Standard  ABAQUS/Explicit  ABAQUS/CAE

Benefits: Temperatures for sequentially coupled thermal-stress analysis can now be read from the output database file in addition to the results file and interpolated between dissimilar meshes.

Description: For sequentially coupled thermal-stress analysis where the meshes in the heat transfer and stress/displacement analyses are the same, the temperatures for the stress analysis can be read as initial conditions or field variables from the results or output database file for the heat transfer analysis.

If the mesh for the heat transfer analysis is different from the mesh for the subsequent stress/displacement analysis and the temperatures are read from the output database file for the heat transfer analysis, ABAQUS can interpolate the temperature values from the nodes in the heat transfer model to the current nodal temperatures.

ABAQUS/CAE Usage:
Load module:
FieldCreate: Other, Temperature: Distribution: From results or output database file,
   Mesh compatibility: Incompatible
