5.2 New geometry repair tools added

Product: ABAQUS/CAE  

Benefits: Additional tools have been added to the Repair toolset to provide more functionality and greater flexibility when repairing imported parts.

Description: The tools in the Repair toolset are now grouped by the type of entity being repaired:

In addition, the following new tools have been added to the Repair toolset:

New edge repair tools

  • Repair small edges

  • Merge edges

    Figure 5–2 Merging edges.

  • The remove redundant edges and remove redundant vertices tools have been replaced by the remove redundant entities tool.

New face repair tools

  • Repair small faces

  • Replace faces

  • Remove sliver

    Figure 5–5 Removing a sliver.

New part repair tools

  • The functionality of the automated repair tool is now provided as three separate repair tools:

    • Stitch

    • Convert to analytical

    • Convert to precise

  • The solid from cell tool can now create a solid region from a cell region; previous versions of ABAQUS/CAE operated on only an entire part. In addition, you can now select more than one face from the shell region, in which case ABAQUS/CAE determines the direction in which to add the solid material.
