4.5 Translating and rotating part instances with existing constraints applied

Benefits: The usability of the translate and rotate procedures in the Assembly module has been improved.

Description: If you proceeded with a translation that invalidated a previous position constraint in previous versions of ABAQUS/CAE, ABAQUS/CAE first converted all existing constraints to an absolute position. Now ABAQUS/CAE applies the translation components along only the unconstrained degrees of freedom. If all the degrees of freedom are constrained, ABAQUS/CAE displays an error message and the translation fails.
